Information about 'In Dialogue' conference in the sign language.
The conference, which opened the project took place on the 28th of May 2014.
It was organized by the partners of the project, that is the Centre for Deliberation, Institute of Sociology, University of Warsaw (the project leader), the Warsaw University of Technology, the Association of Polish Cities, the Polish Forum of Disabled Persons, the Foundation of Free and Open Software, the IT training company MIT and European Commission, Representation in Poland.
The conference was addressed to the representatives of the public administration, especially on local level, in whose field of interest and occupation there are the issues connected with public dialogue and participation, researchers, members of the academia, members of NGOs and students.
The aim of the conference was to review the accomplishments of some applied projects that have the same or similar aims as the project, which is being realized by the mentioned partners, and reflect on solutions to some key challenges. The key issues, on which we focused include practical questions, the results of the newest research projects, including the evaluations of applied projects conducted by research centres and public administration.
The conference was a continuation of two previous debates organized by the Centre for Deliberation IS UW in cooperation with partners from all over the world: the conference „Deliberation: values, processes, institutions” (2012) and the conference „O mieście z mieszkańcami”/”Dèlibèrèment – La ville”(2013). In each of these events around hundred participants from the academia, public administration and ngos took part. The conference was planned to deepen and broaden the issues associated with the usage of new technologies in the communication between local governments and inhabitants.
Experts from Europe, the United States and Poland participated in the conference. Among the speakers there were authors and managers of projects, in which IT tools are used to create the environment for social dialogue and problem solving in the area of public policy with the participation of citizens. What is more, the tenets of the project currently realized by the mentioned partners were presented.
The conference gathered the innovators in the area of democratization of the social communication with the usage of IT tools. The event was also thought to include young people in the dialogue. Exhibition of the pictures taken by Polish and foreign students showing the topic „Dialogue” was one of the means to achieve this goal. The exhibition accompanied the conference.
